Finally pushed myself to create an illustrated menu that I have been “planning" for the longest time.

I recently came across “TKG” during a conversation with my mum. I had no idea what it was until she said it was an abbreviation for “Tamago Kake Gohan”one of Japan's many soul food. Literally translates to “Egg over rice” (the egg is raw). Different households will have different ways of eating this meal (I believe) that can easily be assembled. In my family, we would sometimes have it as a quick breakfast. However, it seems that in recent years it has become a meal in itself that deserves an English abbreviation of its own as well as restaurants dedicated to serving this specific meal. Something I definitely want to try when I visit Japan— TKG at a restaurant!

For this mock up menu, I aimed to create a light breakfast feel with options clearly set out for readers. Basically a build-your-own bowl of TKG menu.

I have read that there are a lot more exciting toppings offered at TKG restaurants but for this menu, I have decided on three of my favourites: Natto (Fermented soybeans), Butter and Okra. There's a restaurant in Japan that has Blue Cheese as an option. I'll try this one day.

Anyway, I plan to make more menus this year and would love to do a collaboration or take on menu commissions— so if you or anyone you know are interested, shoot me a message!

I would also love to hear what you think about this one! Would be extremely helpful :)
